If in this book harsh words are spoken about some of the greatest among the intellectual leaders of mankind, my motive is not, I hope, the wish to belittle them. It springs rather from my conviction that, if our civilization is to survive, we must break with the habit of defense to great men. Great men may make great mistakes; and as the book tries to show, some of the greatest leaders of the past supported the perennial attack on freedom and reason. Their influence, too rarely challenged, continues to mislead those on whose defense civilization depends, and to divide them. The responsibility for this tragic and possibly fatal division becomes ours if we hesitate to be outspoken in our criticism of what admittedly is a part of our intellectual heritage. By our reluctance to criticize some of it, we may help to destroy it all.
The book is a critical introduction to the philosophy of politics and of history, and an examination of some of the principles of social reconstruction. . . .
Although the book presupposes nothing but open-mindedness in the reader, its object is not so much to popularize the questions treated as to solve them. . . . . .

. . . . Seen in the darkness of the present world situation, the criticism of Marxism which it attempts is liable to stand out as the main point of the book. This view of it is not wholly wrong and perhaps unavoidable, although the aims of the book are much wider. Marxism is only an episode - one of the many mistakes we have made in the perennial and dangerous struggle for building better and freer world. . . . . Marx has too often been attacked on personal and moral grounds . . . .
. . . my mood of depression has passed, largely as the result of a visit to the United States; . . .
I see now more clearly than ever before that even our greatest troubles spring from something that is as admirable and sound as it is dangerous - from our impatience to better the lot of our fellows. For these troubles are the by-products of what is perhaps the greatest of all moral and spiritual revolution of history, a movement which began three centuries ago. It is the longing of uncounted unknown men to free themselves and their minds from the tutelage of authority and prejudice. It is their attempt to build up an open society which rejects the absolute authority of the merely established and the merely traditional while trying to preserve, to develop, and to establish traditions, old or new, that measure up to their standards of freedom, of humaneness, and of rational criticism. It is their unwillingness to sit back and leave the entire responsibility for ruling the world to human or superhuman authority, and their readiness to share the burden of responsibility for avoidable suffering, and to work for its avoidance. This revolution has created powers for appalling destructiveness; but they may yet be conquered.

* "Открытое общество" ("О. о.")- понятие, используемое в ряде западных социально - философских учений для обозначения демократических обществ, характеризуемых плюрализмом в экономике, политике, культуре, развитыми структурами гражданского общества и правового государства. "Открытое общество" обычно противопоставляется обществам докапиталистических формаций, а также социализму. Различаются две трактовки "Открытого общества" - элитарная (Бергсон) и эгалитарная (Поппер). . . . .
Вторая, изложенная в книге "Открытое общество и его враги" (1945), исходит из реального противостояний "О. о." и закрытого общества в наши дни и утверждает, что западные демократия в основном завершила переход к "О. о.", в то время как социализм остался закрытым обществом. Для последнего, по Попперу, характерна неизменность законов функционирования, тоталитарность, примат общества над индивидом, личная безответственность, идейный догматизм. Это "трайбалистское", т. е. подобное по своей структуре первобытному племени, общество противопоставляет себя всему остальному миру. Для членов "О. о.", напротив, типична рационально - критическая установка, возможность целесообразно и сознательно управлять социальным развитием и постепенно формировать гос. ин-ты сообразно реальным потребностям людей. Вместе с тем Поппер указывал и на определенные недостатки зап. демократии, не позволяющие ей считаться "О. о." в полной мере. . . . .

** Technologies, skills, experience, knowledge, and basic resources (minimum of food and shelter to be able to use technologies, skills, experience, and knowledge) are probably the most important for any country or human to survive in very tough fight for survival of the fittest.
I am looking to the ways if protection of developing poor countries from extermination or enslaving by developed countries (the USA, Canada, European Union, Australia, and New Zealand.)
It is difficult to for the developing countries to defeat the USA, Canada, European Union, Australia, and New Zealand in economic competition.
If the developing countries fail to stand for their interests using economic methods, terror may be considered as an option.
It is easier to destroy than to create. Developing countries can threaten to destroy developed countries and the whole world as the last option.
It is difficult for ordinary people to understand the main corrupt practices of those people who are in power. Thus, it is difficult to know who are really the guiltiest people. If there is not enough transparency to find the truth, there may be a need to kill all people to make sure that the guiltiest people do not get away with crimes unpunished. Otherwise, there may not be enough accountability to make sure that those people who are in power are doing the right thing often enough.
I am trying to find the way out of the problems for the world, my country, and myself.

Если будет очевидно, что невозможно слаборазвитым странам выжить в этой конкурентной борьбе, то возможно рассмотрения вариантов террористических операций против развитых стран.
Обычным людям сложно разобраться в интригах влиятельных людей мира.
Существует большая опасность коррупции и безответственности со стороны мировой элиты по отношению к самым незащищенным людям.
Для обеспечения ответственности мировой элиты по отношению к самым незащищенным людям предлагается рассмотреть возможность создания очень реальной угрозы существования абсолютно всех людей на Земле. Цель: добиться открытости для общественности информации обо всех основных потоках ресурсов в мире, о принятии важных для мира решений.
Уничтожить мир проще, чем созидать. Поэтому, даже слаборазвитые страны, объединив усилия, могут уничтожить всех людей на Земле. Это может стать предостережением для мировой элиты от чрезмерной коррупции.
